Attention 5th grade parents of students that will be attending Morton Middle School! You're invited to participate in SBDM parent representative elections!

Parents/Guardians:
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break!  We are nearing the end of the school year and with that, the end of terms for SBDM Council representatives.  Morton Middle School’s PTSA will be holding elections on May 25th to fill 4 SBDM parent representative positions. Please consider running for one of these positions as they are so important to the functioning of our school.
Attached you will find a “job description” and nomination form.  You may nominate yourself. Only parents of children who will be attending Morton next year are eligible.  A BRIEF biographical paragraph, which will be posted on the Morton website and available in hard copy at the front desk, is due by April 25th.  Please call (859-492-9532) with any questions.
Thank you,
Cristi Hundley, MMS PTSA President

Our students and staff at JME had another great experience with our annual Read-to-Me Week. Our week consisted of book character day, pajama day, school assemblies, and LOTS OF READING!

Puja 2

Puja Adhikari: The 14th Annual Emilie Szekely Holocaust Awareness Writing Essay Winner

In memory of Emilie Szekely, the Jewish Federation of the Bluegrass sponsors a special annual writing contest on the Contemporary Lessons of the Holocaust.  Emilie Szekely was a Holocaust survivor who for many years dedicated herself to speaking to students in Kentucky about her experiences in the Budapest Ghetto, than her transport to the death camps of Auschwitz and Bergenbelzen.  The writing project is an effort to continue Emilies life work of keeping the lessons of the Holocaust a living memory. Puja will receive a $100 award and will have her piece published in the Lexington Herald-Leader and Shalomnewspapers.  Puja is invited to read her essay during the Jewish Community commemoration of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 10am, at Ohavay Zion Synagogue in Lexington.

JME is excited to start a WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program at our school.  Check out the link below for more information about the program.
